Rollback process when applying upgrade/hotfix ?

Hi,

I'm wondering if any of you have a rollback plan for when you apply upgrades or hotfixes to LEM.  Mostly wondering if you are using safety backups/snapshots before applying the updates and if you have any strategy to pause event collection so that if you do need to rollback there is no loss of event data.
